KYOTOGRAPHIE — “LOVE” Kyoto International Photography Festival
【April 15-May 14】KYOTOGRAPHIE — “LOVE” Kyoto International Photography Festival
KYOTOGRAPHIE is one of the few truly international artistic events taking place in Japan. The 5th year will present 16 innovative exhibitions around the theme“LOVE” all shown in iconic Kyoto venues with original scenography.
Valuable collections of photography collections and works by internationally renowned artists are exhibited in various spaces in Kyoto.
Lucille Reyboz and Yusuke Nakanishi, Co-founders and directors of KYOTOGRAPHIE states, “Humanity’s diverse forms of love serve as means of social cohesion and strategies for propagation of offspring to ensure the survival of the species. Those feelings and ideas we call love all vary according to one’s background, religious views, history, geographical region and living environment. Such differences can cause friction and at
times turn love into hate, wholly deplete love to disinterest, or even lead to murder, war, violence toward the disadvantaged and other serious problems. It tells us how vital love is for us humans and why we instinctually crave love in all its multiplicity.”
The exhibitions and events create opportunities by bringing people together of all ages, cultures, and backgrounds. This is a multifaceted photography festival that cannot be found anywhere else but Kyoto.
