Kaname-an Nishitomiya is located just north of the bustling Nishiki Food Market right in the middle of the city. However, once you step inside, tranquil comfort surrounds you. Just follow the path through the garden and enter. Even the corridor is floored with tatami straw mats that are very comfortable without slippers. Their changed monthly kaiseki course uses seasonal ingredients. Dishes are basically Japanese as their chef uses broth taken from dried bonito and kelp but he also utilizes artistic Western cuisine techniques like fondue and mille-feuille. They also choose the best bowls and plates for each dish, combining both Japanese and Western wares. Also, don’t forget to check their wine list as they have a variety of wine options in their cellar.
