Healthy Japanese combination meals in an academic atmosphere
Hiragana-kan is situated in the neighborhood of Kyoto University and the Kyoto University of Art and Design. They have been a students’ favorite diner since their opening thirty five years ago. A well-known Japanese actor, Takuro Tatsumi, who graduated from Kyoto University, is also a long-term fan since he acted for the drama group, “Gekidan Sotobakomachi.” Tatsumi always enjoys conversing with the owner who loves theatre, and of course, his tasty dishes. There are more than 40 menu items all of which are “Hiragana-kan’s originals”. Based on Western dishes, the chef adds his novel way of using ingredients and sauces. Most of the dishes come in ample portions yet are very healthy due to an abundance of vegetables.
