Sincere heart for sweet making developed over time
“Yaki Imo” (a sweet dumpling with a thin dough made of taro starch wrapped around a filling of sweet red bean paste) and “Yaki Guri” (a whole chestnut covered with sweet red bean paste) are two representative items produced by Nijo Wakasaya. Of course, there are many other items that capture their long-term fan’s hearts. The first generation owner’s wish was to be a painter, which is why their wrapping paper and package design also look unique and artistic. He was such a creative person in those days that he even created the advertisement designs for their shop in the newspaper by himself. The beautiful “Saga no Haru” has a symbol of cherry blossoms on its surface (368 yen/piece). A combination of green, pink and brown creates a vigorous spring atmosphere. Inside is smooth red bean paste.
