Dyed, woven, from foreign countries... the world of antique fabrics
You can discover a wide range of antique fabrics, from more than 100 years ago, at Chingireya. A number of pieces in their collection include very valuable fabrics which could be displayed in a museum. The shop is full of different kinds of textiles including kosode (a kind of kimono) with gorgeous embroidery. Yuzen dyed fabric, Nishijin woven fabric, indigo fabric, etc. Part of the collection is from the Edo period (1600-1868) as well as from Europe and India. Foreign fabric still retains its exotic color and patterns that was once adored by samurai lords and tea ceremony connoisseurs. People who collect antique fabrics and those who wish to make special bags from antique fabric come and look for the unique pieces at Chingireya.
