    Delivering the doctrines of Honen Shonin to the present day

    The founder of the grand head temple of Jodo-shu sect, Honen Shonin, taught that all people could find salvation by reciting “Namu Amidabutsu”, not only the people had a hard training or rich people. His doctrines were accepted by men and women of all ages, and it has been passed down after 800 years until the present as a standpoint for human soul.  The temple provides a lecture twice a day at the Honenshoin Mi-do Hall. Evangelists of the grand head temple of Chion-in Temple in Japan, give a sermon and the contents changes every 5 days. You can receive a sermon without an appointment after visiting the temple.  The temple hosts many Important Cultural Property and treasures.
