Famous sickle shaped rice cake made wishing for a good rice harvest

Established in 1897, the third owner now runs this long-standing shop.  Famous Kamamochi, (210 yen), once a popular sweet among travelers and local farmers at a Kuramaguchi teahouse set at the site of one of the seven Kyoto entry stations, were brought back to life by the first owner.  Steamed rice flour is combined with sugar and made into rice cake with brown sugar flavor filling.  The chewy rice cake and soft texture filling is both delicious and elegant.  It is even popular amongst those who are not normally fond of sweets.  This lovely sickle shaped rice cake was made originally wishing for a good rice harvest.
