Items of excellence presented by Tawaraya Inn
Tawaraya is Kyoto’s most renowned traditional Japanese inn. All of the utensils and interior accessories are their original products. The first item they sold to the public was a small sewing set originally placed in the guest’s room for their convenience. Today, they have gained more demand from their fans and there are now more than 400 Tawaraya original items available. The present owner, Toshi Sato, is responsible for the complete production process, from their design to trial use. He believes that whatever they use in the inn must meet Tawaraya’s standards, making it difficult to find items of the appropriate quality. This gave rise to the idea of producing their own original items. Each piece originates from the considerable effort and time of Sato and the craftspeople. At Gallery Yukei, these special Tawaraya items are available for wearing, eating and living: towels, bed clothes, nightwear, ceramics, food, and more. They look stylish yet retain a sense of traditional Japan that will add depth to your daily life.
