Reasonably priced yet satisfying lunch; try their steaming hot egg roll
Kajisho, located just by Yasaka Jinja Shrine, home to the famous Gion Matsuri Festival in July, is a counter style restaurant serving excellent Japanese cuisine. Its excellence is proven by the fact that geiko & maiko along with their managers and long-time Gion locals are all Kajisho’s fans. The owner and chef, Takanori Kajihara, says, “I don’t serve my dishes too formally because I just want my customers to enjoy Kyoto cuisine in a relaxed mood.” Originally from Nagasaki, a prefecture on the northwest end of the Kyushu Island, many of Kajihara’s dishes reflect the tastes of Nagasaki such as in the fresh seafood, meat, and famous udon noodles from Goto Island. Kajihara started a lunch service (reservation only) in the autumn of 2013 which immediately became extremely popular. The lunch course consists of 8 dishes including Kajihara’s signature dish, the savory eggroll. A beautiful view of nearby Maruyama Park is also enchanting. Monthly changed courses and seasonal a la carte items are served during dinner time.
