Homemade Japanese ice cream made only from natural ingredients
Kinana is a café where visitors can experience unique ice cream made from kinako, or soy bean powder – not an ordinary kind but the black soy beans from Tanba in Kyoto which is regarded as the finest of all Japanese soy bean varieties. Ingredients for Kinana’s ice cream are all healthy and natural. The production method takes much time and effort and the outcome is a supremely delicate ice cream that is very soft and leaves the faint aroma of soybean in the mouth. They try to achieve this fine taste by using minimum fat and no eggs so that the ice cream is low in calories, an especially good point for women. There are six flavors: plain, black sesame, red beans, matcha green tea, brown sugar and yomogi (tansy herb). If you can’t decide which one to go for, try the plain first since it most represents the taste of fine soybean and Kinana’s philosophy.
