Edo-style sushi restaurant visited regularly by geiko and maiko
Just a one street west of Hanamikoji Street in Gion, the restaurant stands on a typical stone alleyway of Gion. Geiko (geisha in Kyoto) and maiko (apprentice geiko) visit this restaurant regularly. The owner, whose family also ran a sushi restaurant, opened the restaurant in 2006. At the tasteful unvarnished wood counter style table, one can enjoy delicious authentic Edo (Tokyo) style sushi with rice mixed with red vinegar and carefully prepared toppings. Creatively prepared sushi and other items such as tuna marinated in soy sauce and rice wine are exquisite. During the season, grilled blowfish roe is available as well. Sunday lunch is the chef’s recommendation course for 5,500 yen as well as additional order of your choice and a la carte is available. Enjoy a promising luxurious time with rare Japanese sake and champagne alongside.
