Seasonal ingredients grilled in the stone oven
Gion Sasaki is regarded as one of the most difficult restaurants to make a reservation at in Kyoto. Literally, the restaurant is always full. As soon as guests enter they will be impressed with the long counter made from a single piece of wood where 3-4 bustling cooks are working. In spring, the best choice is the Spring Feast Grilled in the Stone Oven. Bamboo shoots freshly harvested that day in the Ohara region of Kyoto, scallops, lily bulbs, field mustard, broad beans and other spring tastes are grilled in the stone oven and served. This selection goes far beyond typical Japanese cuisine and thus people never stop coming to try the new tastes at Sasaki. The stone oven menu is changed seasonally to present new surprises and impressions throughout the year.
