Japanese stationery with Kyoto flavor
Morita is a stationery shop on Shijo Street in Gion. Not only ordinary stationeries but also new and unique items always catch the eye of tourists and locals. At the entrance, colorful and pretty stationery will greet you. Maiko (apprentice geisha) and Kyoto’s special motifs are often used for the designs that attract passers by. Particularly recommended, and especially popular as a Kyoto souvenir, is “letter incense” - a small piece of incense in a seasonal shape that can be added to a letter to add a nice aroma. There are a variety of letter and note pads in designs which cannot be found anywhere else. At the end of the year, small envelopes (from 315 yen) are especially popular.
