Unique dish originating from geiko’s request in Miyagawacho
Since its opening in 1907, Fukuya has been favored by many locals, including maiko and geiko in Miyagawacho (one of Kyoto’s maiko districts), and kabuki actors. Their specialty dish, Fukuya Rice, is said to have originated at the request of a geiko. Savor this soft and fluffy fried omelet with tomato, green peas and mushrooms and a ketchup seasoned rice filling. You will be impressed with its colorful appearance as soon as it is served. The rice inside is simply flavored with ketchup. A large number of long-term fans come from far and wide especially to enjoy this specialty.
