A variety of Kamaboko fish cakes made from fresh fish
Ibarakiya has been popular for their variety of kamaboko (fish cake) and fish items since 1869. Their kamaboko is always made from fresh fish, and is often chosen as a special gift from Kyoto. At the end of the year, people come here especially to buy auspicious pink and white fish cakes for the special New Year’s dish. They can also make kamaboko specially designed in seasonal motifs (reservation required). Others are quite unique as they contain cooked tuna and mayonnaise or cream cheese inside which are a kind of Western flavor that can be a good accompaniment for wine and champagne.
