Comfortable machiya café serving fine Japanese sweets
Café Fugetsu building was originally an ochaya (restaurant where diners can enjoy meals and be entertained by maiko and geiko) that has been passed down through four generations. During the daytime it operates as café and everyone is welcome, and at night it becomes a private bar (members only). On the menu is a popular sweet ‘Tofu matcha (green tea) cheese cake’, which is made from tofu instead of cheese, whereby the tofu’s rich taste and flavor produces a taste and texture that is similar to that of a real cheese cake. They also offer Japanese style affogato using azuki (red bean) ice cream and hot matcha, and kinako (roasted soybean flour) and brown sugar syrup ice cream. Café Fugetsu is assured to excite your taste buds with fine sweets in a relaxing and quaint historic machiya atmosphere.
