Appreciating the season with elegantly arranged sushi

Kashiwai is a Japanese restaurant located next to the Japanese ware shop, Saison du Japon, near the Kyoto Prefectural Botanical Garden in the Kitayama area.  While they serve a kaiseki style course in the restaurant, they also offer a takeaway, “Tsumami Sushi,” an assortment of sushi varieties using Kyoto specialties such as fresh yuba (soy milk skin), salted mackerel, fresh gluten, and more.   Every piece of sushi is carefully prepared and presents an elegant appearance.  Customers come to Kashiwaki to collect their sushi for special home events or as a gift.
