Many small efforts to be an environmentally friendly Japanese inn
Kinoe is a traditional Japanese inn located on Higashioji Street in the popular Higashiyama district. People stay at Kinoe expecting exquisite Kaiseki Kyoto cuisine using Kyoto vegetables, tofu, rice and Japanese sake, but Kinoe also welcomes guests who wish to stay without meals or have breakfast only, thus making them popular among both business guests and tourists. The female manager, Chizuyo Miyata says, “Our actions may be quite small but we just want to be careful with our environment. For example, we don’t provide disposable amenities and don’t use excess wrappings either.” They also try to save as much electricity and water as they can without causing trouble for their guests.
