Special Japanese sake brewed by a brewery in Kyoto only for Kodai-ji Temple
Kodai-ji Temple has a strong connection with one of the most famous and influential Japanese samurai warriors, Hideyoshi Toyotomi (1537-1598). There is a shop in the car park where visitors can buy Japanese sweets and items related to the temple, Hideyoshi and Nene, his wife. Recently one special item has become very popular. This is Japanese sake named “Hideyoshi no Yume (Hideyoshi’s Dream)” specially brewed only for Kodai-ji Temple by Tanzan Shuzo, the sake brewery in Kameoka city (north of Arashiyama, on the west side of the city). Using fine Japanese rice, which is refined by being polished, the sake has a fruity aroma and refreshing dry taste. Since they started to sell it in 2009, many people come back to buy a bottle. There are also other kinds of sake named “Nene no Kokoro (Nene’s Heart)” and “Kodaiji.”
