Experience the true taste of shiny and savory Japanese rice
Five years ago, two brothers who were born into a long-established rice merchant family opened this restaurant just in front of Yasaka Jinja Shrine. “We want people to know the true taste of rice,” they say. Takashi, the older brother, studied about rice and acquired a qualification as a Five-Star Rice Master. Koji, the younger, used to work as a Japanese chef in famous restaurants. Their knowledge and cooking skill merged and has led to the great popularity of their restaurant. At times, even 100 people wait in a queue to savor their rice dishes. Takashi, the rice expert, makes the original blend and Koji cooks it in his original earthen pot. For lunch, ochazuke (a bowl of rice topped with pieces of sea bream and poured tea) and oyako-don (a bowl of rice topped with softly cooked beaten egg and chicken) are popular. For dinner, the Kome Zanmai Course, which changes monthly and uses rice in every dish, is highly recommended.
