Newly opened stylish designer’s hotel on Karasuma Street
Kyoto ITOYA Hotel was opened in recent years. The narrow lane leads the guest into their cozy accommodation that is like a hidden secret. Originally, this was the site of an old yarn product store, “Itobun,” with a 143-year history that produced traditional Japanese braid and decoration tassels. When the store was moved and renovated at another location, the owner decided to open a hotel as it was a good area to welcome guests. The interior designer, Mr. Yoshiyuki Morii, skillfully introduced Itobun’s tradition by using a tassel decoration on the chandelier. Beds and the bathroom in the guest rooms are large, simple and functional. Their lounge performs multiple functions as a café, library and bar. ITOYA is constantly striving to achieve better service and comfort for their guests.
