Collaboration of beautiful scenery and elegant dishes
Situated in a classical Japanese structure, Le Sarment D’or offers one of the best views in Kyoto; the small vermillion Tatsumi Bridge crossing over the serene Shirakawa Stream. The owner and chef, Ueshima, opened his restaurant after working as the head chef of one of the restaurants in Kyoto Hotel Okura. The interior is done in an elegant yet very modern traditional Kyoto style. Ueshima gathers the freshest and most tasty ingredients every day, vegetables from Ohara, Keihoku and Miyama villages, and seafood directly from the ports. He takes great care with every dish and knows the best ways to prepare them. For example, when he prepares roast Kyoto pork, he spends one hour slowly and thoroughly roasting a loaf of meat so that it becomes extremely tender. Lunch is from 5,000 yen.
