    Maeda Coffee Main Shop

    Kyoto’s Japanese-Retro café

The first generation owner of this café once worked in Kyoto’s famous coffee shop, Inoda Coffee, before becoming independent in 1971 and opening Maeda COFFEE.  It is a common scene to see Kyoto’s local wealthy merchants taking a seat to enjoy aromatic coffee at their main shop as a morning routine.  Their homemade Spaghetti Napoletana has been very popular since their opening.  Thick pieces of ham, onion and green pepper are fried and seasoned with a special sauce that blends ketchup, white wine, milk and butter.  Relatively thick spaghetti goes perfectly with the sauce with its rich aroma of ketchup and onion, and is everyone’s favorite.
