Fruity and aromatic Japanese sake
Matsumoto Shuzo is a long-established Japanese sake brewery that opened in 1791. Some of their items, such as Hinode Sakari and Momo no Shizuku, are quite popular throughout Japan. Their use of the best rice for sake and careful brewing process achieves a soft texture and mild taste, typical of sake brewed in Kyoto. A recommended item is Momo no Shizuku Junmai Ginjo (720 ml; from 1,307 yen). The rich flavor of fine rice and a unique ingredient extracted from the rice mold used for fermentation creates a somewhat fruity aroma. During winter months, first brewed sake of the year without pasteurization is available.
