Warm Japanese lighting using traditional Sashimono woodcraft technique
Miura Shomei started their business about 120 years ago, when the city of Kyoto was first electrified and streetlights started to appear. Today they focus on creating handmade lights with Japanese designs. Using mainly natural materials, such as bamboo and cedar, every light is handmade individually by their craftsmen. The delicate and gentle light produces a beautiful shadow wherever it is applied, from general households to shops and restaurants. Their lanterns placed at entranceways welcome guests with a gentle light. They accept customized orders depending on the size and purpose of use. The photo is of the Roji Andon (36,750 yen).
