Luxurious crab crackers suited for a New Year’s gift
Wakuden is one of the most famous ryotei (high-end Japanese style restaurants) in Kyoto. In November, at their main restaurant in the Kodai-ji Temple complex, charcoal-grilled precious Taiza Crab starts to be served as “Kani-yaki (grilled crab)”. The photo is of the crab flavored rice cracker, which took its inspiration from this dish (20 sticks; 3,150 yen). This is a Murasakino Wakuden’s winter specialty. Quality rice grown in Japan and Matsuba Crab is used for the ingredients. The crackers are carefully hand baked one by one. The crab flavor and the unique crab leg like shape makes this a unique and delicious cracker. The large sized cracker is especially satisfying.
