“Narumi-han for Osekihan” – Unrivaled taste of red bean rice
Since its foundation in 1875, Narumi Mochi Honten has been an expert of rice items especially for special occasions such as celebrations and festivals. Regular customers come every day for their rice cakes, red bean rice, sweet red bean jellies and sweet dumplings. They use rice from Saga Prefecture in Kyushu Island, which is the finest rice due to its texture, softness and taste. Of course, this rice is also used for their red bean rice, which sells as much as 60 kilo a day. Red beans are from the Tanba region of Kyoto, which are also considered to be the best in Japan. Rice and red beans are steamed in a large steamer together to become fine red bean rice. The photo is of the round rice cakes (840 yen for 10 pieces).
