Simple yet sophisticated – Popular sweets of the Nishiki Food Market
Nishiki Hirano opened in 1953, and has been providing between 50-60 kinds of freshly made deli- style dishes everyday that contribute greatly to Kyoto people’s daily dining table. One of the popular dishes is “Shiratama Endo (Rice dumpling with sweet green pea paste)” (130 yen). Green peas, which are cooked just right, have a natural sweetness and go amazingly well with the sticky rice dumplings. Its just-the-right sweetness is suitable both as a side dish as well as a dessert. Seasonal dishes using local ingredients of Kyoto are also available.
