Pray for good luck at the shrine connected to Taira no Kiyomori who held the reins of power
Nyakuichi Jinja Shrine’s legend says it was established in 1166 by Taira no Kiyomori. He divided the spirit of Nyakuichi Oji in Kumano and enshrined it in the annex of Nishi Hachijo Palace. It is said that Taira no Kiyomori was appointed as Daijo Daijin (Grand Minister) after visiting this shrine so that it has been worshipped as deity of good luck and successful career. Even now this shrine attracts many people who wish for its benefits. There is the statue of Taira no Kiyomori and a poetry monument of “Tale of the Heike” also there is a big camphor tree planted by Kiyomori in front of the shrine worshipped as a symbol of the shrine.
