Special lacquer ware with name imprinted for celebratory occasions
The first generation owner of Okamura Shikki-ten was from Wakasa province (present-day Fukui prefecture). He moved to Kyoto in 1894 and worked and trained himself in a tea ceremony utensil shop. He became independent and opened his lacquer ware shop whose legacy has been passed on up to the present day. Choosing only Kyoto-origin materials and local craftspeople, their shop has a full range of large and small lacquer wares which are considered to be not only beautiful but also easy-to-use. If you order well in advance (7-10 days), they can add names or preferred letters on the ware which is a popular service for a birthday or wedding gift.
