    Preciously brewed local Japanese sake from Tamba made with pure water and quality rice

    The origin of this Japanese sake brewery dates from the late 17th century when the first generation owner, Tarobe Oishi started a sake store.  In its 300 year-long history, they changed the name and transformed into a sake brewery based in Kameoka City (next to Kyoto).  Using quality rice harvested in the Tamba region and pure water from the local Hozu River, they persist in traditional brewing methods relying on experienced sake production masters.  There is a section where visitors can try sake tasting as well as a museum.  Sometimes if the timing is good, visitors can observe how they bottle the sake.  They sell sake by measure.  The photo is of the season’s first sake (2,200 yen; 1.8 liter; available only during winter), which is made from extra fine newly harvested rice from the Tamba region and pure water from the upper stream of Arashiyama.
