Great tasting charcoal grilled eel with a special original sauce and other preserved delectable

Ohkuniya is a shop selling charcoal grilled eels and tsukudani (preserved food boiled in soy sauce), and is located in Nishiki Market. Charcoal-grilled eel uses a special sauce handed down over three generations. “Bubu-eel” is a famous product which is stewed well with a sweet-salty sauce and sansho (Japanese pepper) grown in Kitayama. Here you can pick up an assortment of gifts  “Bubu-eel” combined with green tea from the famous Uji tea shop called ’marukyu-koyamaen’ and crackers from Kyoto’s prestigious rice cracker shop ‘Tachibanaya’, which would make a wonderful gift (from \3,300), as it is good with ochazuke (boiled rice mixed in green tea) and porridge. They also offer a variety of tsukudani made from river fish such as minnow from Lake Biwa
