Kyoto style bakery products created from the collaboration of a baker and a restaurant chef
Gion and Takumi Okumura, two famous Kyoto-style French restaurants in the Gion area, founded this bakery in 2010.They have many items that contain Kyo-yasai (vegetables originating in Kyoto) such as their bacon knots “Inaho” made with bacon, Mibuna greens and Yuzu Kosho (paste made with chilli and Yuzu peel and salt).Another popular item Matcha Melon Pan (171 yen) has green tea powder both in the bread and cookie crust dough. Their original line-up is made from collaboration between the baker and the restaurant chef, making the product unique and popular. The baker says, “I am hoping to keep creating the Okumura’s taste in this traditional area”. Their bakery items are now becoming the new specialty of the Hanamachi area, the entertainment quarter for geiko and maiko.
