Café with a variety of books and photo books
“Book cafes” have become popular all around Japan recently. Some are bookshops with a café space while others are cafes offering a selection of books. In Kyoto, the latter is the popular style and Traction is one of them. The café uses an entire floor complete with large bookshelves offering photo books, design guides and many other visual art related books. The owner, Mr. Fukuda, says, ‘Just enjoy the feeling of being in our café as if you were in a living room filled with books rather than reading them, if you like.’ Choosing a favorite book and opening it over a cup of coffee is how most people choose to spend their time in Traction.
