    Rokusonno Jinja Shrine

Birthplace of Seiwa Genji and God’s messenger carp bringsgood fortune

Rokusonno Jinja Shrine was established in 963, and Tsunemoto Minamoto is enshrined in this temple. The origin of this temple is from the time when Tsunemoto’s son, Mitsunaka, built a sanctuary after his father was buried. In those days, Tanjosu Benzaiten-sha Shrine was enshrined above the well near Shinryu Pond in the shrine. The spring water was used for Mitsunaka's first bath, so that this shrine has been said to offer blessings for conception and smooth childbirth.  Also, Taiko Bridge across the pond has another name “the bridge between the lovers”, it is said if you cross the bridge, you can get a good match. A charm in the motif of carp for matchmaking is very popular.
