Saiin Kasuga Jinja Shrine

Grants benefits from good marital relationships to curing diseases

Saiin Kasuga Jinja Shrine was established in 833 by Emperor Junna, as a branch shrine by summoning the spirit of the Kasuga Taisha Shrine in Nara.  This shrine possesses “Hoso-ishi (smallpox stone)” named after a historical event in which the emperor’s princess contracted smallpox and was cured by the stone, therefore this shrine is attributed for curing diseases and preventing misfortune.  Also, Modoroki Jinja Shrine known as "Sessha” (auxiliary shrine) is renowned for its various benefits for safe travel, warding of misfortune, a good marital relationship, conception and smooth childbirth and child’s good health.
