Japanese sweets with superb view of traditional Japanese garden
Situated in a traditional Japanese house in a quiet residential area near Shimogamo Jinja Shrine, Saryo Hosen is run by an established Japanese sweet shop, Hosendo Main Shop, which is known as a provider of fine Japanese sweets. Every sweet is made from the finest ingredients in Japan, such as Dainagon Azuki red beans from Tamba (northern Kyoto) for zenzai (sweet red bean soup with rice cake) and pure bracken starch for warabi-mochi (jelly-like sweet). They start to prepare the warabi-mochi when the order is made so they are very fresh. They also regularly prepare 5-6 different beautiful seasonal sweets every day that are served with a bowl of matcha green tea. Remove your shoes off and take a table in a classical Japanese room aside by a beautiful Japanese garden. This is true Japanese tea break that will soothe your heart and mind.
