Healthy Kyoto style okonomi-yaki with rich amount of cabbage
“Take” (meaning “bamboo” in Japanese) is situated in the Matsubara Shopping Street that still keeps its nostalgic atmosphere. Unlike Osaka style okonomi-yaki, which mixes the batter and the ingredients before frying, this restaurant follows “beta-yaki” style where shredded vegetables are put on top of the frying batter mixture. You can take out a steaming hot delicious okonomi-yaki, which are delicious even when they are cold. So why not take some extra back home? Their reasonable prices will also please you. Okonomi-yaki starts from 600 yen, and tako-yaki (octopus dumplings) are 300 yen for 10 pieces. As the sun sets, the red lantern in front of the restaurant lights up and business people from around the neighborhood start to arrive. Visit the shop and try their original okonomi-yaki in a somewhat nostalgic atmosphere.
