    Takenobu Inari Jinja Shrine

Connection with the Fujiwara clan and Ryoma Sakamoto

Takenobu Inari Jinja Shrine was established by the order of the minister of the right, Fujiwara no Yoshimi in 859, to play the role as the guardian shrine which serves for Kangakuin (educational institution) and Enmei-in (hospital) of the Fujiwara clan. It has been widely believed as the guardian deity of people’s life since long ago. The 850 year-old, sacred hackberry tree that Benzaiten dwells in, is well known for its benefit for health, longevity and matchmaking.  Currently this shrine is getting attention for its connectedness with Ryoma Sakamoto.
