Artistic ceramics born from flexible sensitivity and excellent brush works
Tamura Hozan is a shop located on Gozo-zaka Street specializing in Japanese ceramics. Since the shop opened in the early Meiji period (1868-1912), they have offered fine selection of Kyoto style ceramic works, especially for the Japanese kaiseki haute cuisine. One of the artists they proudly recommend is Makoto Murata. Murata’s signature design is pretty and colorful hand-painted platters as well as dynamic designs and copies of ancient Chinese stories (the photo is of the fish shape plate: 15,000 yen). His hand painting on the ceramic has a playful design and consists of soft lines. Thinking how to compliment his works with dishes will add another enjoyable dimension to your home cooking.
