Tempura restaurant established by “Tawaraya”
Famous exclusive ryokan (Japanese-style inn), Tawaraya, opened Ten-yu which specializes in tempura cuisine. The modern building has a galley on the ground floor, counter tables on the 2nd floor, and private rooms on the 3rd floor with a unique design of “Tawaraya-style” - offering an first quality relaxing moment. Reservation is required for dinner. Tendon (a bowl of rice topped with tempura) and a course menu is available for lunch. Ten-maki for take-out (pre-order is required) is one of the most popular Kyoto gifts, which is made in the same way as sushi roll, steamed rice, fried shrimp and original jako (cooked small dried fishes) are wrapped with flavored seaweed. As they are beautifully arranged in a bamboo basket, Ten-maki are often chosen to be a company for flower viewing or be a wonderful food gift for someone. Ten-maki packed in a box is also available including a soft-boiled egg and fu-dengaku (gluten like tofu with miso soy bean paste) as side dishes.
