Simple and healthy Kyoto-style okonomi-yaki
The most popular menu item at Teppanyaki Kyuzo is the Kyoto-style Okonomi that was born from the owner’s considerable amount of effort. It wasn’t until after a number of trials and errors that he decided the blend and balance of the dough and toppings. The result is a perfect okonomi with a crispy outside and soft and juicy inside. Their okonomi-yaki has enough taste without sauce, but what is unique about Kyuzo’s okonomi-yaki is that you eat okonomki-yaki with broth. The Special Kyuzo-yaki (819 yen) is very thick (about 4 cm) and large, yet healthy and quite low in calories. It contains homemade simmered beef, small pieces of deep-fried tempura batter, Kujo-negi green onion, konnyaku (jelly-like food made from taro starch) and pieces of fish cake. The sweetened soy sauce flavor will surely stimulate your appetite.
