Toji Narumi Mochi

Toji Narumi Mochi

“Rice Cake Shop” offering quality traditional Japanese sweets

Toji Narumi Mochi is located near To-ji Temple.  From the Keiga-mon gate, take the road that heads east and you will find this Japanese sweet shop that is loved by the local people.  The shop is known for their Minazuki (triangle shaped cake made with red beans and rice flour) which is known as the “the sweet of June”.  Though it is normally eaten during the month of June, Minazuki with its green tea powder flavor is available throughout a year.  The cake has a jelly like soft texture and has just the right sweetness.  Preservatives are not used and they make a certain number everyday so please order one-day in advance.  There is a cafe space in the shop where you can enjoy the freshly made sweets.
