Contemplate lunch combining the beauty of Kyoto-style dishes and bowls
Tozentei’s owner and chef, Toshiro Watanabe, trained himself to be a Japanese cuisine chef in various first-class restaurants in Kyoto. When he finally decided to become independent, Watanabe chose to locate in Shinmonzen Street, which is Kyoto’s antique shop street. Naturally, many of the people who come to Tozentei are Japanese antique connoisseurs. Of course, Wastanabe’s skillful cooking technique and choice of tableware never disappoints them. His unique way of dish arrangement is also entertaining: thin slices of Japanese lime and sashimi of anago (conger eel) alternately, or unique Goto udon noodles from Nagasaki prefecture topped with heaps of aromatic seaweed from Kumamoto prefecture. Watanabe’s dishes stimulate all five senses as well as the appetite. There are three options for lunch, starting from 3,000 yen. They also serve coffee at the end of the meal, which is rare in a Japanese restaurant.
