Long-standing sake liquor shop with a great selection
Located in the Nishiki Food Market, this long-standing liquor shop has been run for 220 years. Inside, there are both Kyoto’s locally brewed sake or rice wine as well as great selections of sake from around Japan and other types of alcoholic beverages from around the world. The 8th generation owner of the shop says, “I would love to find the right sake or liquor for each customer, so please do not hesitate to ask for advice”. One of his recommendations is “Junmai Daiginjo Genshu Eikun “IWAI” ” (720ml; from 3,000 yen) which uses a special type of rice “IWAI” which is best suited for making sake. This dry tasting Japanese sake was created in collaboration with the brewery in Fushimi, Kyoto and only available in limited numbers, so take this good chance to try your luck!
