Tailor-made obi sash employing techniques from the Meiji period

Yasuda is a small studio and shop that has been creating fascinating Nishijin weaving for obi sash since the mid-Meiji period (1868-1912).  Yasuda’s careful and delicate weaving work has acquired a high reputation from locals and Kyoto fans, some of whom acquire their custom-made obi sashes solely from their shop.  Based on traditional Nishijin weaving techniques, they add a modern essence to their designs.  Customers who wish to make a tailor-made obi sash are requested to come to the shop at least one month in advance of the delivery date (the delivery period varies depending on the item), or customers can bring their own fabric and have an obi made from it. Please make reservations by phone or email before visiting.
